Artist Statement

I usually draw in the early mornings with alternate, punk, metal, or rock music blasting from speakers that flank my studio room.
Nothing is preconceived, and I draw whatever comes to mind.
My works usually depict the esoteric side of humanity and reality, at least the way I perceive it.

My figures are mostly androgynous and otherworldly, oftentimes involving an abyss, and expressing the look of wonderment or curiosity.

My mission statement is:  “To capture the eye, turn the head, and then to stir the mind” … If you don’t ‘get’ my art in the first three seconds of seeing it, you don’t ‘get-it’ at all.
If I can raise the mental frequency of a tiny fraction of my audience, I have accomplished my purpose. To cause a person to view life a little more skewed or creatively for a moment, or to think outside-the-box, will serve my objective.

I'm sure my art won't be inspirational to everyone, so I'll leave it to each viewer how my works are interpreted, whether inspiring, funny, or just weird.
My style may not be for everybody, but I hope it is at least entertaining.
I have saved over 300+ drawings since I started keeping them and selected about 150 to display here.
I will update the site with new drawings often so keep checking back or subscribe to update notices below.
Feel free to send me a note on your thoughts (email below).

Sincerely,

Willie T IV (Bill)

Artist Statement

"William T Erickson IV (aka Willie T IV or Bill) is a self-taught artist known to friends for his inexplicable and unusual style and subject.

His works share the unsettling surreal flares of Salvador Dali and the expressionistic animations of Andy Warhol. Willie T's art medium is charcoals and soft pastels on large 26” wide x 32” tall plain paper.

Although he has drawn casually off-and-on most of his life, Bill didn’t concentrate on this craft until late 2017 when he bought his first easel.

In 2018, he was selected finalist to the Brooklyn NY Waterfront Artist Coalitions International Exhibition of Album Cover Artwork, and for Year 2020 placed 6th for American Art Awards top 200 Artworks for Cubism. Other awards are listed on right.

Born in New Jersey, Bill resides in Jacksonville, Florida where he is a business executive."

GALLERY NOTE:

All images are simple cell-phone photographs of the original artwork. All the original artwork is 26" wide x 32" tall. No touch up or photo editing was performed other than cropping out the perimeter background to show only the art piece.
